That two players should receive this type of award in one year is rare, and we extend congratulations for their achievements. The student staff of the Lam' Roundup would like to recognize Mr. jack Eiffert, Miss Janie Greggs, Mr. Bill Schuster, Mrs. Dee Powell, and Mr. D. E. Oglesby for their work at Jesuit this year. Each of them has made some special contribution in some new endeavor, some new path, and we feel that they deserve our thanks. One of the many service groups that are involved incontributing to Jesuit is the National Honor Society. The N.H.S. has a mem- bership based upon invitation, resulting in strict qualifications for nominees. The moderator, Fr. Kerry Clark, S.J., explained the quali- fications, Membership is based upon four things: academic achie- vement, meaning a grade-point average ofat least 3.00, outstand- ing character, leadeship abil- ities, and previous service tothe school. He commented that the last two are most important and count very heavily as far as mem- bership goes. Students are no- minated by the teachers, and then members vote on acceptance. What does it do, though? The N,H.S. serves various needs in the school itself. During Col- lege Day the N.H.S. welcomed the representatives from the various colleges and ushered them throughout the school. At pre- sent the N.H.S, is also under- taking a Tutoring Program to help students who are weak in certain courses. Also the So- ciety sorted IBM cards for a computer analysis of courses and departments here at Jesuit. Presently the N.H.S. is set- ting up a catalogue of all the visual aids, so that the further use of these aids would be fa- cilitated. The N.H.S. is once again serving the schoo1's de- mands.
