The sun rises and the sun goes downg then it presses on to the place where it rises. Blowing toward the north, then toward the south, the wind turns again and again resumes its rounds. All riv- ers go to the sea, yet never does the sea become full. To the place where they go, the rivers keep on going . . . What has been that will beg what has been done that will be done. Nothing is new under the sun. Even the thing of which we say, See this new! has already existed in the ages that preceded us. There is no remem- brance ofthe men of oldg nor of those to come will there be any re- membrance among those who come after them. 'I ,'2' ,gg l 4 1 ' . K2 54' ,. ,' '1 .3735 . 5, - 1 fn - . For the past four years he has given us loyal friendship, encouragement, and un- derstanding in our times of need. Mr. Harri- son has taught us more than we could ever learn in any classroom. When you partfrom your friend, you grieve notg For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain. ls .z X R , l L 5 Q I IHA, ' UULLEGESZZZIEQRA mmf OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ----- 12345 INWOOD ROAD ' DALLAS, TEXAS 75234 A QAC 2145 239-1381 January l, l97l My dear Young Friends: My association with you during your years at Jesuit has been mostly unnoticed by you. An occasional walk through the halls, a rare appearance at an assembly, a wave at you in the crowd, a final congratulations at graduation - these have been all that you have observed. Yet during all of your years at Jesuit you have been my primary concern. Your interests have occupied almost all of my time, since my job goes on for many hours longer than the ordinary school day and for twelve months of the year. During these hours and years time and time again I have had to defend you to people who do not understand you or who have had little patience with you and your whole generation. This has meant the risk of necessary support, and has caused me much anxiety and worry. But I am not at all sorry that I did this, because I really do believe in you and have the highest hopes that you will prove me right in the long run. Time alone will tell the true story and confirm ny trust in you. But as time passes and you reflect on these things I believe the thing you will remember most about Jesuit is the opportunity it gave you to grow. You were made to learn by making some mistakes, but in this process to mature and to become ever more responsible. In this process you were taught to be concerned about the important things in life. My farewell prayer for you is that your contribution to our society will be the ultimate vindication of Jesuit's trust in you. In some way this con- tribution will have to reflect the Christian ideals which have been taught in every Class, every extra-curricular, every association you have experienced at Jesuit. If this turns out to be the ultimate result of your years at Jesuit all of us will have been well compensated for all the effort we have expended in your interest. God bless you, and come and see us as often as you can. Most sincerely in Our Lord, Q C if-,lx 64-10 Rev. Paul Schott, S. J. PSfS President Q I-A l bl CUIZEGESIEZZIZHA TUHY OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL - - - 12345 INWCCD ROAD . DALLAS. TEXAS 15234 . KAC 2143 239 1381 rl To the Graduates of '7l. The Peace of Christ be with you. In the years to come if you are able to look back upon these words and appreciate their full significance, then our work and your efforts at Jesuit to help you develop a cultured Christian maturity will not have been in vain. UNO, Lord, you do not ask of me anything that is false or beyond my power to achieve. Through your self-revealing and the power of your grace you simply compel what is most human in us to become at long last aware of itself. Humanity has been sleeping - and still sleeps - lulled within the narrowly confining joys of its little closed loves. In the depths of the human multitude there slumbers an immense spiritual power which will manifest itself only when we have learnt how to break through the dividing walls of our egoism and raise our- selves up to an entirely new perspective, so that habitually and in practical fashion we fix our gaze on the universal realities. Lord Jesus, you who are the Savior of our human activity because you bring us a motive for acting, and the Savior of our human pain because you endow it with a life-giving value: be also the Savior of our human unity by compelling us to repudiate all our pettiness and, relying on you, to venture forth on to the uncharted ocean of charity.H Sincerely yours, 11 Q -f',5, J. The sun rises and the sun goes downg then it presses on to the place where it rises. Blowing toward the north, then toward the south, the wind turns again and again resumes itsrounds. All riy- ers go to the sea, yet never does the sea become full. To the place where they go, the rivers keep on going . . . What has been that will beg what has been done that will beydone. Nothing is new under the sun. Elven the thing of which we say, See this new! has already existed in the ages that preceded us.
