HUSTLING AND BUSTLING Every day at Jenkins revolved around the secretaries. Mrs. Lewis was bookkeeper, Mrs. Mell was general secretary and Mrs. Melhorn kept records. In addition to their office duties, these ladies helped students with many problems. The information booth was installed to relieve the secretaries of the task of signing students in and out of school. Answering phones, sorting mail, and typing memos were only part of the busy schedule of the secretaries. Working together, with the information booth, they served the students, faculty and public in many ways. EXTREME UPPER LEFT: Mrs. Mell smiles for the camera while sorting some important papers. UPPER LEFT: Mrs. Melhorn stops her busy duties to take the administrators' coats to be cleaned. LEFT: (Iriselda Powell and Wanda White, students at HVJ, think the secretaries are very helpful.
