Revolving individually in our own separate worlds we are often unaware of everyday occurrences. During our life span we approach many crossings in life, not only those we meet physically such as a railroad crossing, but those we meet mentally and emotionally — crossings which will influence the remainder of our lives. They may offer us higher social status, new opportunities, or just sheer enjoyment. Outside influences often have a bearing on our decision. The ques- tion we arrive at is whether to proceed or halt. In stressing this idea of a point of crossing, let's cite a few examples. As a sophomore entering a high school many changes must be undergone. A new adjustment must be made on entering a new school with new ideals, being swept along at the pace of high school involvement, meeting new people, making new friends, and facing new situations. High school juniors have progressed into the middle road of secondary education. They see things from many angles. They become involved in today and live for tomorrow — their hope of that seemingly unattainable goal — graduation. As a high school senior, one is leaving a rather smooth and confined orbit and entering an often cold, cruel world. For 12 years of his life he has known what was expected of him. But now. he is thrust into an outside world despite his personal objections. Perhaps he is disillusioned or crying out for acceptance by someone or something. Now, on his own he must change his entire life pattern and find new ideas and people with which to relate. As we attempt to reminisce over the 72-73 school year, it is our hope that you will find remembrances of your per- sonal chiasma.
