fillitggtgiyr -..ap Above: Drummer Greg Robertson appears indifferent to the daily marching band practices of early fall. Right: Athletic practices and events consumed countless hours for many Bronchos. Here Kerry Flowers places a two-hand backhand. lt's 2:40 p.m. and your sixth period class is just about over. Instead of the chemical formula for sodium nitrate or the last chapter of Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, visions of what after school will bring fill your head. Will football practice be rough again? Or do you have another play rehearsal? Are you dreaming of the trip home in a shiny Camaro with your true love? Or is a bumpy school bus ride in store for you? Maybe you have to go to worki maybe you have a dentist appointment. or, perhaps you're one of the lucky few who gets to just plain old kick around and do as you please. But. whatever the case, you can be sure of one thing, that it's all a part of the action . . . after 2:45.

A year of study abroad brings to mind Jeff student Mike Shippee. Mike spent a Year in Glasgow. Scotland, where he attended school. The courses he studied were much the same as if he were here. He participated on the school's fencing and volleyball teams. and attended pro-soccer games, discos. parties. and punk rock concerts in his spare time. He got along fine with his family, but he had trouble adlusting to the weather since it rained about three days a week. Upon his return to the Ll.S., Mike will attend Jeff one more year: but he felt the experience was well worth it. Mitch Miller also traveled to Japan this past summer, but he stayed in Tokyo, Japan, with Yasuoki Tanaka's family. Mitch agreed with Bunny Blair that the Japanese are far more respectful than we Americans are, but he also noticed that in Japan the men are considered to be far more superior to the women. While in Japan, Mitch traveled to Kayoto, Japan: r0d6 the bullet train, which is the fastest train in the world, and visited one of the schools, where he taught English for two days. . .-r-v---Q-vv 1 r,,- ,'-, r'- .Je-x'f MJ--. She attended Jeff as a senior but had to return to Germany for three more years of schooling. Bettina said that one of the biggest adiustments for her was the difference between Jeff and her school in Germany. Jeff has about three times as many students as her German school. After a tour of the U.S., Bettina returned to Germanyt but she hopes to come back to the Ll.S. for college. Yasuoki Tanaka was another exchange student at Jeff this year. Yasuoki came from Tokyo, Japan and lived with the Robert Miller family. Yasuoki became involved in several activities. These activities included the Jeff speech team and the Purdue rugby team. Although Tokyo is similar to Chicago and Indiana polis, Yasuoki agreed that Jeff was hard to adjust to. He said at first he found it hard to make friends because there are so many in the school. Yasuoki would like to return to the Ll.S. to live, and he hopes to eventually become a U.S. citizen.
