These courses and others teach a pupil to examine facts, analyze a problem, come to a logical conclusion, and communi- cate his knowledge to others. Gold Tassels Distin uish Top Ten of Class Commencement of the class of 1965 was held in the Jeff gymnasium on June 10. The gym was packed with proud parents, teachers, and underelassmen who fer- vently wished their own high school careers were end- ing. The graduating seniors experienced pangs of nostalgia, mingled with relief, hope, and excitement as they assembled outside the gym and the orchestra began the processional, HPomp and Circumstancef' At the graduation ceremony, the members of the Lafayette School Board alternated in handing out the diplomas, and pictures were taken of each new alumnus as he walked off the stage. The graduation itself fol- lowed the Senior Prom, Senior Week, and the Vesper Service held the previous Sunday afternoon. The top ten members of the class wore gold tassels on their caps, and those pupils who had perfect attend- ance throughout high school were given citations. The orchestra and A Cappella Choir performed Wllhe Battle Hymn of the Republiew under the direction of Richard Jaeger, and the graduates hled out of the gym to strains of g'Sons of Jefferson.
