KONE, Two, THREE, Form! Regular exercise is important to sophomore boys. Enjoyment Is Gained Via Recreation JUMP BALL! Even girls are good at basketball when they compete against one another in gym class. Page 26 Activities which offer recreation and exercise that will aid a person throughout his lifetime are taught in the physical education classes. The sophomore boys and girls learn to use their leisure time profitably by taking part in activ- ities which help to improve muscle tone and strength and which introduce them to enjoyable sports. The girls take part in badminton, shulfleboard, golf, and bowling. They also become acquainted with the features of modern dancing in their physical education classes. The boys engage in the more standard athletic sports such as basketball, volleyball, football, and softball. Both groups must spend one six-weeks period on body mechanics.

Practice Insures Business Perfection Jeffls commercial department offers many courses suitable for college-bound students as well as for those who plan to work in an office. Typing and shorthand, both essential for an office worker, are also beneficial to a college student. Any paper written for college looks better if it is typed, and shorthand enables a pupil to take more eiiicient notes. Bookkeeping is a Valuable experience for anyone planning to enter the business World. In order to understand his business every busi- nessman needs to be able to keep his accounts accurately. Office practice, giving instruction in the use of many office machines and in business practices, is the finished touch to the other courses. Health and Driver Ed Stress Safety A year in health class acquaints the sopho- more girls with grooming, etiquette, and the diseases caused by poor health habits. A day anticipated by these girls is First-Aid Day, on which the girls gain experience in treating minor injuries. Sophomore boys take health also. Along with learning about good health habits, they study the structure of the skeleton and the functions of the human body. Driver education at Jeff teaches pupils that courtesy on the road is important and that drivers have responsibilities to fulfill. The pur- pose of the course is to decrease the number of accidents by improving these pupils' driving knowledge. SADIE, the pride of the health class, is used by Mrs. Price and Claudia Miller to study the human body. THE MYSTERY of automo- biles is explained to the driver training pupils by Mr. Willey. Priya 27
