P11 gr' 12 We are taught our When the subject of classes is being dis- cussed, a familiar question usually arises-why do we have to study so much English? We all know, or should know, that the English lan- guage is the hardest and most complicated of all languages to master. It takes more than just an hour, more than just a week, more than just a year to master it. It takes a lifetime. We need to practice correct sentence structure, correct usage, correct punctuation, and correct spelling at all times. English grammar, required for graduation, is offered to all in our sophomore and junior years. Literature is offered one semester of each year. Composition, which is for all students who wish to go to college, is taken in the senior year. Speech courses are chosen as electives by many. Iournalism, a course required for a Boost- er Staff member, is an essential if one intends to go into newspaper work. There are General English courses for those planning a business career, and Remedial courses for those needing special help. Time and energy must be put forth on this subject to prepare us for the next step to our places in the world, be it college or a business. Mr. Hopkins explains the function of the Booster to an eager journalism class. 3

Interesting phases of Biology Ill are field trips, experiments, and the scientific solv- ing of various problems. Physics, an elective for juniors and seniors, is the study of energy, matter, and the physical changes of matter. Smelly chemicals, smoke, and bubbling test tubes are associated with chemistry, an elective course for juniors and seniors. Specially chosen sophomores may take a course of three semes- ters of chemistry and physics. Physical Science combines the fundamentals of both physics and chemistry. To give information about the countries of the world, world geography is offered. We can not appreciate the wonders of science and nature unless we know about them and partially under- stand them. The best way to do this is through the Science courses offered at Ieff.
