Mathematics and Science Mathematics and Science have taken the lead in the last decade. We have seen the discovery of the atom, and the emerging of a. revolution in all theories. The original construction of man and animal is clarified for us. Untold opportunities for the greatest good and equally great evil are revealed as more and more insight is achieved into the sciences. We learn that there is great beauty in the flawless harmony of mathematics. Our minds are trained to think logically and clearly. The destiny of humanity lies in our ability to think logically and clearly. Here, Mr. White teaches some students one of the fundamental experiments in laboratory science. . If one is healthy, so much more can be achieved. Like the Spartan youths, we build strong muscles and straight bodies. One of the tests of a successful and abundant country is the physical appearance of its youth. America has not only a healthy people but a tradi- tion of fair play and good sportsmanship. KVe must learn to lose cheerfully as well as win. In our Physical Education and Health Departments, we learn these principles through sports. WF' Commercial The world of commerce beckons to those who can take a place in the ofhces of enterprising concerns and work to prominencein the community. As preparation for a position in one of the businesses of Roanoke, students in the Commercial Department are given training in the skill subjects. In the terminal year a class in Office Practice provides an opportunity to obtain a Working knowledge of business machines and to receive actual business experience. A knowledge of mechanics is a most worthwhile achievement and lends itself to creation for the good of many people. Vocational Education at jefferson, now in its spacious new setting, expects to realize its goals even' more elfectively than it has in its old temporary building. One of these goals is to produce advanced apprentice machinists. .
