Education should provide the opportunity for each individual to grow intel- lectually, morally, physically, and spiritually. It should develop esthetic interests such as music, art, literature, and nature. It should encourage recreational skills so that leisure time will be used wisely. It should teach respect for the cultures of all people, so that we may live harmoniously among nations. lt should provide an insight into the potentialities of the individual, thus insuring a greater degree of social and economic efficiency It must be concerned with the total development of each individual. ln order that education accomplish these things, our curricula must be broad and flexible and readily adaptable to a changing world. 3 A free public education is the right of every person in America. CLASS HISTORY On the first day of school a large number of students were seen bumping their way around school. Who were these misfits? The Freshmen! Consisting of forty-one girls and thirty boys, this class im- mediately launched itself into school activities. Alas! The chorus, band, and many other activities soon had many freshmen members. Pie sales and dances were some of their money- making activities. They selected their leaders, who were: William Parolini - - - - - President James Mustonen - - - - Vice-President Gene Rugani - - - ---- Treasurer Ronald Hiltunen - - - - -Secretary We can only hope that this group will improve as time goes on. Energy and curiosity burn deep in their minds, thus offsetting their lack of knowledge. 34 of I 966 ROW 4: Joseph Haapapuro, Sandra Narhi, Robert Shiroda, Chester Verran, Gary Walstrom, James Mustonen, Eugenia Paavola, Kazimier Pindral, Mary Lou Niemitalo. Senior Excels In Leadership The annual Christmas Card sale of the senior class was put under the direction and management of Barbara Parolini. Due to her excellent leadership and efficiency, the re- sults ofthe project were gratifying to all. Junior Excels In Solesmcmship Magazine selling, one of the main money making projects of the Junior Class, gives an excellent opportunity for juniors to show their salesmanship. Kathleen Vezzetti, top sales- man this year, selected a portable tape re- corder as a reward for her time and effort. Our Efforts Pay Off The planning of the senior trip was put into the able hands of Rita Lindeman and Deanna Vettori. Our appreciation goes to these two girls and to all others who helped to make our trip one of the highlights of our entire school life.
