In Memory of jolm Lee Howe jay jr. High School tt How do you say good-bye to someone dear knowing that no longer will he be near? It is hard to admit that life must end. lt is hard to say good-bye to a dear friendf' John Lee Howe was a friend to ,lay Schools. He was a friend to each student who attended here. He mix- ed knowledge with laughter-always ready with a quick smile, ready wil and good story. He was a friend to his fellow workers, proud of his school, a believer in what he did. Teaching was more than a paycheck to john Lee-it was a way oflife. He knew the name fthe strengths and weakness of each of his studentsl and he did not forget when the student left his classroom. Many ,lay residents were students of John Lee and they are better for what he taught them. He showed his students the STARS and made his students reach for them. He expected the best from his students and was rewarded with achievements even his students thought impossible. For twenty-five years he shared his life with us. We knew ofhis love of hunting quail, of his kindredship for his bird dogs, of his love for his horses and all the outdoors. We knew a man who loved his wife, was proud of his sons, and worshipped his daughter. We knew a man who was never too busy to listen when one had a problemg who was generous, not only with his money, but with his time. He saw the unspoken cry in our eyes and answered without being asked. To be loved by one's family, respected by his co-workers and admired by his students is our praise for ,Iohn Lee. Good-bye good friend til we meet again. We send flowers of love to one who left us before we had a chance to say good-byeg til we meet again may the God of our Fathers make each of us a better person for having known and loved you.
