Class Hustorq In the fall of 1944, the light of education was turned on 57 small children Only 5 of that number remain to graduate from .Iay High School They are Pete Potter Tommy Robertson Louise Cochrane Patty Ruth Dick and Annabelle Goins In the second grade we gained Lloyd Payton Janice Burrow Eunice Conway Mildred Craigg and Peggy Brewster We d1dn't add any to our number in the third grade The fourth term Lanny Gladin Ch1ef1e Bacon Merville Handle and Dale Kirby Joined our ranks Bryan Washbourne was the only new student 1n the fifth grade We had no new students ln the sixth grade and only one in the seventh Dorma Martain During the eighth grade we gained Mitzie Brantley Anna Lee Loux Tyrone Houck and Mike Bolton The freshman year proved to be a big year in our history The new students who Joined us to make up the l04 graduating from Junior high to senior high were Gary Duncan Raymond Durham Charles Ingram John Long Sonny Wickliffe Junior Mason Mavis Crabtree Patricia Robertson Velma Jordan and Doris Trout Janice Burrow and Mildred Jo1ned us again that year Class officers were Lanny Gladin President Tommy Robertson Vice President Pete Potter Secretary Treasurer Sophomore class officers were Tommy Robertson President We galned no new students during that year Bobby Rogers was the only new student that entered our Junior year Those serving as class officers were Tommy Robertson President Annabelle Goins Vice President Jimmie Smith Secretary Louise Cochrane Treasurer Our first prize float bearing the theme 'We're Sitting on Top of the World represented the success of ou Junior year Mitzie Brantley was elected Basketball Queen that term Our senior year we had six new students Billy Morrow Velma Davis Naomi Sixkiller Mozelle Ritter Joyce Black and Dainty Kirby Our class officers were Tommy Robertson President Annabelle Goins VICE Presldent Anna Lee Loux Secretary Pete Potter Treasurer A beautiful giant swan which took f1rst place represented our class 1n the homecoming parade Our motto Soaring to Success truly told f our victory during the game which followed The senior playJ The Eager Miss Beaver took the top honors of all plays ever presented at Jay High School We were entertained with a wonderful banquet and prom thanks to the Junior Class For those who survived the rough storm of reading writing and the 1uggl1ng of numbers it has been agreed W1sdom IS Better than Gold O .
