This year it was thought best to have one large year-book, The staff, Composed of Postgraduatcs, Seniors, juniors, Sophomores and Fresh- men, is representative of the whole student body. The editors have endeavored to produce a paper which should rank with the hest school publications. The members of the staff wish to thank all who have in :my way made possible the publication of such a paper. It is not an easy matter to bring out a large year book, which shall represent all the varied interests of the school, XYilhout the substantial aid of our loyal advertisers, the contributions from the student body, and the untiring efforts of the faculty advisers we fully realize that The Red and Green would have been an impossibility. Editor in Chief. 4 0 9 0 lt is no longer possible for even the most versatile person to know some- thing about everything, nor everything about any- Mental thing, The range of human knowledge has become so Discipline wide, and the minuteness of specialization so exact and far-reaching that one is apt to feel a sense of help- lcssness when confronted with the opportunities offered by even a high school course of study. To meet this situation Dr. Charles li. Wheelock, Assistant Conunis- sioner for Secondary liducatiou of the State Department, proposes a division of subjects for each student. Under this arrangement a student would elect a certain group of related subjects which he would pursue merely for a reading knowledge, much as a person reads a scientific hook or magazine article simply for general information: in such subjects the minimum passing mark would be accepted.
