ONCERT BAND FIRST ROW: Right to Left: Barbara Perry, Mattie-Joe Sumption, Donna Broy, Pat Knight. SECOND ROW: Riglat to Left: David Snow, Thomas Lillis, Charles Merriner, Harry Kern, Gary Spaid. The Senior Band of james Wood seeks to develop the musical ability of the young musicians who constitute its membership. The band is open to students who possess some musical knowledge and provides an opportunity for them to improve their skill to a greater degree. ' The band participates in home football games, parades, University of Virginia Band day, All-state, and district festivals and pre- sents a spring concert each year. THIRD ROW: Righl la Left: Hugh Barton, Mike Fletcher, james See, George Lambert, John McMillian, Thomas Sheetz, Guy Conner, Robert Lofton, Fred Williston. FOURTH ROW: Right to Left: Roger Lamp, Waughn Twigg, Larry Secrist, Richard Nagley, Ray Patterson, Bruce Barley, Ray Shifliett, Richard Stockdale, David Stotler, Beverley Seekford. Stfmding: Mary Mauck. The Junior Band provides the basic background in music which the band student needs before being promoted to the Senior Band. Most students in Junior Band have had one year's ex- perience in music. The students in junior Band learn a working knowl- edge of music fundamentals.
