SCIENCE CLUB MEMBERS: Beverly Harmon, Mary Ann McCaul, Karen Ralston, Louise Jones, Allen Kern. SPONSOR: Mt. York The James Wood Science Club is affiliated with the National Organization Science Clubs of America. Each semester the members try to increase their knowl- edge of science, learn to perfect skills in science, and give service to their community and nation and to help carry out the program of the Science Clubs of America. The club has been divided into two sections this year. Membership in the Junior Section is open to any member of the school interested in science and willing to take an active part in the club activities. The Senior Club is limited to the more mature student who has shown by their previous work in science, noteworthy ability and interest. One outstanding activity of the year was the ed- ucational excursion to Washington. This trip included an extensive tour of the Smithsonian Institution and of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. ON-THE-JOB TRAINING Vocational Office Training is the final phase of the business students program at James Wood. Both classroom and on-the-job training provide these senior students with skills and techniques that are so necessary for office employment. Filing, office procedures, and communication are some of the general materials studied while full-key, ten-key, rotary calculator, transcription, stencil and fluidhduplication, key driven calculator, typing prob- lems and payroll procedures are some of the techni- cal skills covered. Each year the VOT Class holds an Employer- Employee Banquet to show appreciation to all those Concerned for providing this type of training.
