Debating, poetry, prose reading, public speak- ing, and spelling all go together to form our annual Forensic teams. The students for each event are chosen on the basis of speech enunciation and pronunciation, voice, tone and quality, and ability to read smoothly and accurately. PROSE . POETRY SPELLING . DEBATE . HIGHLIGHTS OF HGMECOMING Each year the Pep Club in co-operation with the Physical Education Department, Work together to put on a Home- coming which will long be remembered by the players and the students. This year, the Queen and her princesses, who reigned over the night's activities. were chosen by the football boys and everyone agreed wholeheartedly on their choice. Mayor C 1 a u de Smalts crowns our Queen, Carol Day, while the others look on admiringly. Danny Stotler pesents Carol with a football, autographed by all members of the team. Chuck Triplett, as Colonel james Wootl, gallops up the field when our team scores another touchdown. Mayor Smalts can't seem to take his eyes off our lovely Queen. 217

HEPHERD - - - MADISON - - - V.P.I. Higher education has become not only a want but a necessity in this modern world. In order to secure it good position and a high standing in later life, one must begin his preparation today. Therefore eacih year James Wfood sponsors a college day, during which time. the juniors and Seniors are given op- portunity to become better acquainted with colleges of their choice. Through this program, we hope to encourage all students to attend college or to further their education in other schools of higher learning. The representative from Willialii and Mary College finds interested and attentive listeners. Roger Wfright discusses the possibility of his entering Shepherd College. Sergeant Williams points out the college program offered by the Army to two inter- ested young men. Nursing is a fine profession, explains the representative from Rockingham Hospital.
