VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE The line routine for the Variety Show rehearses with plenty of pep and rhythm. 152 Costumes for the Variety Show are chosen, adjusted, and fitted. Each year the james Wood Journalism staff writes, prints, and sell out school news- paper, The Woodpost. This, in itself is a big jobg but through careful planning and preparations the staff has also succeeded in putting on a great, old fashioned Variety Show. The show consisted of dancing such as the Charleston and the waltz, singing, and many types of typical old time entertainment. Smooth and easy are the by-words for rehearsal of the waltz.

Gxofla -dent, 'PTQS1 Vice Members of the junior or Senior class at James Wood who maintain a B average are invited to join the Beta Club. The purpose of the Beta Club is to promote the ideals of honesty, service, and leadership among high school students of America, to reward meritorious achievement, and to encourage and assist students to continue their education. This year the Beta Club held their annual beauty contest November 17. 1960, thus raising the money to send the members to the Beta Convention. On January 11, 1961, the school cafeteria was transformed into an attractive environment for the Beta Banquet and Initiation Ceremony. In March many of the members attended the annual State Beta Club con- vention held in Roanoke. This event climaxed the james Wootl Beta activities for the year. Rau' One, Left to Right: B.
