The Student Co-operative Association, since it includes every student at James Wood, is chiefly a service organization, and strives for better cooperation between stu- dents and faculty. This past year the SCA successfully planned and carried out several worthwhile projects: the used-book store, the three get-acquainted parties, and the football concession stand. A new constitution was written and adopted, and under- took a big problem: to raise enough money to build a new concession stand and erect a section of concrete bleachers. With the help of all the students, these projects were completed. The outstanding event of the SCA year was the assembly in February with the eminent Civil War historian and author of the Major Mosby Tales, Mr. Virgil Car- rington Jones, as the speaker. 136

S.C.A. PRESENTS - Parents enjoy the hot coffee and donuts served in the school cafeteria during Parents Night. One of the most active clubs at school, the S.C.A., sponsored such events this year as their gala Christmas Dance held in the school gym and a Parents' Night. All parents were invited to at- tend this special night at which time the teachers spoke with each one and answered questions concerning their childrenls prog- ress, attendance, etc. We feel that this has helped the teachers and students to obtain a deeper and better understanding of each other. As our faculty explain their techniques of teaching, the parents listen attentively Christmas spirits were gay and full of fun as the S.C.A.'s dance added a bit of sparkle to the holiday season.
