Students hear lecture on chemical apparatus and use of balr1C6- SCIENCE Biology students have access to latest demonstrative equipment. 93 The science department has two dis- tinct aims in its program of instruc- tion. First, it widens the basis of sci- entific information in the pupil. Sec- ond, it seeks to find students who are definitely interested in science as a career, or to interest some students in its many opportunities. For the first group, courses in gen- eral science are offered in the eighth and ninth grade as an introduction to biology, chemistry and physics. These courses offer both foundation for con- tinued study in advanced schools and colleges as well as information needed in life occupations.
