It is their purpose to encourage and main- tain support and spirit for our teams and to develop a following for all athletic func- tions. The Pep Club strives to show the stu- dent's appreciation and admiration by way of social functions in honor of the teams. Homecoming exercises constituted the major Pep Club function this year. At that time a queen and four princesses were picked from the senior class to reign over the homecoming game and dance. The dance was held immediately following the game in the school gym. The Future Teachers of America Club was started at James Wood this year for the purpose of arousing an interest among the students in teaching. The members of the ETA. are either interested-in becoming teachers or are just interested in learning the qualifications of teachers in the event that they may someday enter this profession. Club activities include reports on available scholarships and colleges that offer degrees and courses on education. Differ- ent teachers are asked to speak during the meetings and to pass on any helpful information they may have about courses to take, colleges to attend, or teaching methods.
