Tyler Miller, President of Madison College, was born in Rappahannock County, Virginia. He received his education in the public schools there and is a graduate of Randolph Macon Academy and Virginia Military Institute. He has also attended the University of Virginia for graduate study. Bridgewater College awarded him the LL.D. degree in 1955. His appointment as President of Madison College was made by the State Board of Education in June, 1949, after a distinguished career as an administrator of public education in Virginia which included services as principal of a high school, Division Superintendent of Schools in Warren and Rappahannock Counties and the City of Charlottesville, and State Superintendent of Public Instruction. He assumed the position as President of Madison on September 3, 1949. Dr. Miller ' s outstanding accomplishments have been recognized by the following publications wherein he is listed: WHO ' S WHO IN AMERICA, WHO ' S WHO IN AMERICAN EDUCATION and WHO ' S WHO IN THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST. President Miller has always been active as a civic, church and educational leader, as evidenced by his membership in many or- ganizations and on many committees and boards. At present he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of State Col- leges and Universities, a member of the Association of Virginia Colleges, the Virginia Academy of Science, the Virginia Education Association and the Virginia Historical Society. Dr. Miller has held membership in Phi Delta Kappa, honorary fraternity in education, for over twenty years. He is a Vestryman at Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Harrisonburg, a Rotarian and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Students, faculty and friends of Madison College are indeed proud of their president and of the record he has made as an edu- cator and administrator. HILLCREST The President ' s Home
