4 MMawjfc |wtrt tk Pirnvkd The year 1959-60 marks for Madison College the beginning of another half-century of service in providing opportunities for higher education to the citizens of our beloved Commonwealth and other States as well. We can look back with justifiable pride to the achievements of Madison during the past fifty years. Indeed many notable accomplishments have taken place during this era, but we must not dwell too much on the past. Instead, we must maintain a forward look in planning and working toward even greater progress and service during the next half- century. As the College continues to grow in enrollment and in the expansion of its physical plant, it must make sure that it also grows in developing and improving the instructional pro- gram for an increasing number of undergraduate and graduate students. I am convinced that during 1959-60, with the support and cooperation of the administrative staff, faculty, and students, significant advances have been made toward these desirable goals. You, as students, have contributed to the successful operation of our College this year. I sincerely appreciate the good citizenship and cooperation on the part of most of the members of our student body. I am grateful to the leaders of the Student Government Association and the Honor Council and also to the other student officers and their respective councils for the leadership and direction they have given to the President Miller discusses business with Mrs. Ware. student community and to the particular organi- zations they serve. Especially do I wish to commend the loyal and outstanding leadership of the Senior Class. As alumni, you will continue as important mem- bers of The Madison College Family, and I hope that years hence you will look back on your days at Madison with fondness, with nostalgia, a,nd with pride in what you learned here. This 1960 edition of THE SCHOOLMA ' AM will help to evoke these emotions as it has captured the people and even ts of a certain time and place that will always have a special significance for you. I trust that you will demonstrate your concern and attachment for your Alma Mater and that Madison College may look forward to your con- tinued interest and support. On behalf of the administration, faculty, and underclassmen, I extend to each of you our special congratulations and best wishes for future happiness and success. I hope that you, who are the members of the present junior, sophomore, and freshman classes, will continue at Madison until graduation. Let me assure those of you who expect to return that I shall look forward with much pleasure to the privilege of working and associating more closely with you as you assume increasing re- sponsibilities as students here.
