A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT The 1958-59 session has been an important and eventful year in the life of Madison College. Our Founders ' Day celebration on March 14th marked the end of a year-long birthday observance for us. Appropriately, the close of our fiftieth year also saw the completion and presentation of our history, Madison College : The First Fifty Years. The expansion of our campus facilities could not have been more dramatically emphasized than by the opening of four major build- ings — Wayland and Gifford dormitories, Anthony-Seeger Campus School, and the College Infirmary — and the dedication of these build- ings and two others — Burruss Science Hall and Logan Hall. Yes, it was an eventful year, and in the years ahead, you, as alumni, will perhaps recall with pride and satisfaction your role in the life of the College during the 1958-59 session. It has also been a significant year for me — my tenth as president of Madison. It isn ' t a long time compared with the years of service that some of our faculty members have given; however, one decade out of the seven, which the Bible says we are allotted, is long enough out of any person ' s life to be important. It is long enough to make one pause and consider how well it has been spent. To me, the worth of these past ten years has been immeasurable. My association with the faculty, students, and administrative staff of Madison has been a source of great pride and satisfaction. It has also been a source of gratification for many lasting friendships. I have never been more aware of these things than during the past year. Now, at the close of the year, I would like to extend warmest congratulations, best wishes, and thanks to members of the Senior Class who are leaving the college, to the rising underclassmen who have other years at Madison to look forward to, and to the family of loyal alumni of which this year ' s graduates will become members. At the end of Madison ' s first half-century, may we continue to join hands in support of the growth and development of the College so that the accomplishments of the next fifty years will be as out- standing as those we commemorated during the past session. Sincerely, jC7. 7i G. Tyler Miller. President ' X s HILLCREST Home of the President
