DOAK ColvnvlAN ER DESTROYER SQUADRON 23 CAPTAIN JOSEPH JAMES DOAK, JR., USN, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 30, 1923, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Doak, Sr. He attended St. Joseph's College in Philadelphia before entering the United States Naval Academy where he graduated with the class of 1945. CAPTAIN DOAK will be the nineteenth in a line of distinguished naval officers to command the ' 'LITTLE BEAVERS. CAPTAIN DOAK has served aboard USS QUINCY CCA-715, USS PORTSMOUTH CCL-1025, USS HEALY CDD-6725, USS LLOYD fAPD-637 and USS BORDELON CDDR-8813. He has commanded USS VAN VOORHIS KDE-10283, USS D. H. FOX IDD-7795, USS BARNEY CDDG-65 and USS SIERRA KAD-185. His service ashore includes: United States Naval Academy, Tufts University, instructor in the NROTC program, Officer in Charge Naval Ordnance Laboratory Test Facility, Solomons, Maryland: Headquarters of NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic and Naval Ordnance Systems Command Headquarters, Washington, 'D.C. CAPTAIN DOAK is married to the former Miss Elizabeth Jane Holt of Cranford, New Jersey. They have six childreng Mary Ellen, 163 Joseph III, 15: Thomas, 113 Peter, 8g Daniel, 6, and Elizabeth, 3.

CDR. A. J. TALLET 45 was .monte lE'.iKWESja. X USS JAMES E. KYES 15th COIVIIVIANDING OFFICER ARTHUR J. TALLET was born in Chicago, Illinois, on 15 December 1929, and is currently a resident of Chicago. He earned his Bache1or's Degree and his commission as Ensign from the Illinois Institute of Technology on 8 June 1951. He served in the Attack Troop Transport USS MENIFEE and Tank Landing Ship 802.Following graduation from the U.S. Naval Combat Information Center Officer School in Glenview, Illinois, he served as CIC Officer aboard the Radar PiCk6C DGSUOYBF USS H. W. TUCKER. He has served on the staff of the Com- mander, Cruiser-Destroyer Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, as Communications Officer with the Defense National Communication Control Center in Washington, D.C., as Executive Officer aboard the Destroyer USS PUTNAM, and with the staff of Commander, Amphibious Group Three. He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 10 November 1965. While serving as Executive Officer, U.S. Naval Communication Station, Philippines, he was ordered to duty as Commanding- Officer, USS JAMES E. KYES KDD-7873. He is married to the former Rita Purcell of Chicago, Illinois. They are the parents of four sons: James, Michael, Robert and Thomas.
