THE BLACKBOARD CLASS POEM His manner shows that he's a friend, And it's on time, Marion has always been. His friendly way, and punctuality, Has made him known in our locality. He has a certain quiet way, And it's basketball he loves to play. We all do know him as a friend, Who could it be, other than Ben. A classmate who's fun to know, Get Phyllis to talk and the words flow. She's made her plans, so bright and true, The main one's Keith, in his Navy blue. His favorite pastime is teasing, And to his friends he is pleasing. Don's plans for the future may be hazy, But we aren't worried, 'cause he isn't lazy Describing her is ea pleasant task, Because she's such a likeable lass. One could say she's sociable, intelligent, neat But we just say, Connie can't be beat. Many a serious thought it seems, It's a good thing of which he dreams, It's sports, not girls, he thinks about, Yes, it's Jimmie, without a doubt. His winsome smile is widely known, And by girls especially, But we must say Joe's also shown, His daresome driving ability. To serve the Lord, Is Jessie's first aim. And then her daughter, Pam is her name. Bill is a likeable fellow, And sure is full of fun. His car is where to find him, A black Dodge is the one. 16

THE BLACKBOARD 54 Her laughter comes easy, To her life is fun. So Lucy, be sure to share it, With the right one. He has fun at every turn, Even as he strives to learn. Jim Neal is the one to know, When your spirits are way down low. You wouldn't say he's the brainy kind, But of Jim Pratt we do find, His nature cheerful, his attitude right, Especially for stirring up fun at night. There is rarely much that he will say, Although there's a lot on his mind, But you will find about his day, Sonnie makes the most of his time. Our best phone operator, But not for long, 'cause you see, A very happy farming wife, Is what Mary Lou shall be. She's sweet and petite, She does honor to our class. We are quick to claim her, Patricia is the lass. She dearly loves to sing and dance, And she dreams of her big romance. To a hope of success she does hold, So to Jeanie, we wish fortunes untold. He has a very open mind, Thinks of girls some of the time. Still, he wants to increase his knowledge, Bill Weber plans to go to college.
