THE 1962 OSKY WOW JACKSON HIGH SCHOOL JACKSON, OHIO CONTENTS CLASSES.................... 3 ACTIVITIES................105 ATHLETICS.................165 MISCELLANY................182 ADMINISTRATION............197 ADVERTISING...............209 CLASSES SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Left to Right: Dick Sheward, Vice-President; Joy Washburn, Treasurer; Susan Jenkins, Secretary; Roger Hyden, President. The Class of 1962 is outstanding in every respect. Academically 27% of this class has a four year average over 90% in ail subjects studied. Every department in Jackson High School has had numbers of this class represent their department in district and state competition. In every field of competition, at least one, and usually more, of these students have won high honors in their fields at district and state levels, whether it be academic, athletic, musical, scientific, commercial, agricultural, dramatic, or any of the many other competitive events. The above officers are proud to represent all 196 members of the Class of '62. Members of the faculty have said that they will miss our class for many reasons. However, we will also miss Jackson High School, its faculty, and our friends in school. However, just as this class has an outstanding high school record, we predict that our past accomplishments will be meager beginnings for many memoers of this Class of '62.n 6 MAUREEN JANET ADAMS Tri Hi Y 3,4; Osky Wow Staff 1,2; Skeleton Staff 1,2,3,4, Editorial Staff; Science Fair 4; Librarian Assistant 1,2,3; Junior Play 3; Senior Band 1,2,3,4; Glee Club 1,2; Eisteddfod 1. Senior Class, here we come! We have almost reached the top of the stair! As we look back we see many steps we have taken this year as Juniors. Leading this ascent up the stairs were the supreme powers of the class--the officers. Starting at the bottom of the 1961-62 stairs, we see one of the first activities of our class--the Junior Play. Many new stars made their debuts in the Jackson Hollywood premier of 'Harvey'. As we climbed higher our journalists were inducted into Quill and Scroll, and our top notch master-minds received membership in the National Honor Society. The biggest step of all climaxed the year. We were hosts to a night to remember--the Junior-Senior Prom! As we move into the Senior Spotlight we are proud of our achievements thus far made. But as we look to the future, we realize that there are many more stairways in life to climb. 55 JAMES BACHTEL SANDY BANE CHARLES ANDERSON DELORES BORING DELILAH BOOTE KAREN ALBERT CARLA BOOTE BILL BOND ROBERT BLACK DEBBIE BARNDT DORIS BEATTY 56 SHARON BROOKS CHERYLYN BROWN GLORIA BROWN COOKIE BURCHETT 57 JOHN COLEMAN FRED COOK JUDY COSTILOW BETTY HUBBARD GARY DEARING STEVE COCHRAN DALE CUT LIP BETTY DAVIS RONNIE DALTON LLOYD CRABTREE 58 LEE DOWNEY LEE DOWNEY MARY ESSMAN ROGER FANNIN SUSAN DUNN JOHN ERWIN CAROLYN DIXON GAIL ELLIS JIM ERVIN JIM FAULKNER ROSETTA FARLEY 59 RONALD FRANKLIN DALE FREELAND MANLIUS FULTZ WICK GAHM 60 ASHLEY JORDON RUSSELL JONES ANN HUGHES DIANE HENRY MIKE JENKINS JAMES ISREAL DENNIS HUTCHINSON GARY HIGGINS LOIS HILL 61 SUE KELLER BILL KIMBLE PEGGY KING JOHN LEEDY CHARLES LAMBERT FLOYD LEACH CARL KAUFMAN SHARON LEACH PAUL LEACH LEWIS LEACH LINDA LEONARD 62 JEANETTE McGHEE GEORGE POE RICHARD PHIPPS TOM PETERS david McKenzie DAVE McKINNIS LINDA McCOY CAROLYN NOEL STEVE ONEY THOMAS PERKINS LINDA PAPP 63 HELEN PRATER PEGGY RBFFE PATTY RIFFE JANE RIDGEWAY 64 JUDY ROACH DUAVE ROBERTS PATTY ROLLINS CONNIE SEXTON BILL SCOTT HARVE ROMANS LINDA ROSE JACK RILEY MARVIN ROSS WILBER ROWSE 65 GEORGIA SHELTON ED SPRIGGS SIDNEY SMITH RODNEY SMITH ROBERT SICKLES SHARON SEXTON CHIP SMALLEY LINDA SIMPSON BECKY SIGRIST BOBBI SIGRIST JOHN SLA YENS 66 MARION STRICKLEN DONNA STIFFLER RITA STOVER JIM SURRETT 67 SHARON VITITOE VICKI WILD MAN MARY GRACE WILSON NANCY WHITE SHARON WALKER MIKE TRUMAN ANN WALLACE BRENDA WAUGH FRED WAUGH BRUCE WEBB 68 MIKE MARKS JOHN MARTIN VICKI MEADOWS BOB MENG 69 CAROL WILLS NORMA WRIGHT PAULETTE MALONE DAN McCARTEY DON DOWNEY DORIS DOWNEY FRANK FEE CAROL GROVER 70 ROGER MERCER FLOYD RHEA SUZY PATTEN JIM WEBB BETSY WHITE TERRY YINGER SOPHOMORE CLASS Left to Right: Jim Adair, Vice-President; Jerry Greene, President; Jeff Elliott, Secretary; Steve Coyan, Treasurer; (Not pictured). Now we are Sophomores, sometimes called wise-fools. At least we are not green freshmen anymore. We’ve had a lot of fun, finally getting the feel of being upperclassmen. Our class officers have done a great job getting us organized for the activities we've participated in. Our Royal Family consisted of a Homecoming Attendant, Skeleton Attendant, and Sweetheart Attendant. We've tried hard and hope to try harder next year in our effort to reach the high school goal of being Seniors! 72 S. BLACKBURN L. BLAIR K. BOGGS R. BOROFF D. ARTHUR D. ATWATER L. BAILEY R. BARKER D. WOOD FRESHMAN CLASS Left to Right: Butch Davis, Secretary; Loretta Evans, Treasurer; Craig Loney, President; Pat Davis, Vice-President. It's here! The new arrival weighs 312 students! At birth it was given the name Freshman Class but since its first appearance it has grown and learned all the tricks of the high school trade. This class has already begun to crawl around in this new kind of life. One of its first movements was electing its class officers. Soon it began taking part in many of the school family activities such as Osky Wow and Skeleton Staffs, Science Club, and Pep Club. We believe that this addition to our school will make many headlines in the coming years! 86 B. Abrams J. Albert R. Aldridge N. Ashton B. Auxier B. Back P. Barlow J. Barnhart P. Barnhart S. Bates D. The Yearbook Editorial Staff has worked very hard this year to make a complete and memorable book for all J.H.S. students. It would not have been possible, however, without the cooperation of the advertising and business staffs supervised by Miss Roberta Grimes. The staff and advisor would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Finch, our principal, for the wonderful cooperation he has given us. He helped in any way he could and it is fully appreciated.
