These people are the ones that make it possible for the little red schoolhouse to continue to exist. This group consists especially of our parents, our taxpayers, and also of our school board members. The 1955 Osky Wow Staff would, therefore, like to dedicate this edition of the yearbook to them as a symbol of our thanks, and also to our faculty members, all of whom have made our education possible. .....Helen Leedy ..Kenny Shumate Grace Plummer .Ruth Washabaugh __Glenna McNeer Page Band ................................ 72 Dedication ............................ 1 Faculty ............................... 5 F.F.A..................................84 Freshmen .............................52 F.T.A.................................85 Janitors .............................92 Juniors ..............................35 Junior High...........................58 Junior Play ..........................77 Hi-Y..................................80 Library Staff ........................87 Office Staff .........................87 Osky Wow Staff........................88 School Board.......................... 4 Seniors ..............................16 Senior Play ..........................76 Sophomores ...........................46 Sports ...............................94 Stage Managers .......................92 Student Council ...................... 4 Tri-Hi-Y .............................78 Ushers ...............................93 Editor-in-Chief....... They were chosen for this honor by meeting the requirements of a citizen such as: Obeying rules and regulations, preparing assignments, respecting all teachers, participation in activities, courtesy to all, promptness, dependability, and honesty. Congratulations to these two outstanding seniors that have proved themselves worthy of their honor. 1 °neer -trat CX. Orouj That Dand y ra.c.t be £ We have joined the ranks! We have become upperclassmen. We are the Junior Class of 1954-55 and are mighty proud of ourselves too! This year we elected as our officers: Larry Claxon, President; Bill Steele, Vice-President; Jennie Lou Mapes, Secretary; and Paul Perry, Treasurer. We've participated in all types of school activities including chapel services, assemblies, and athletics. We could have done very little, however, without the guidance of our class advisor. Miss Mary Lucas. Under her capable direction our class play became a smash hit and the Junior-Senior Dance was a huge success. A fitting climax to this year was the investment of a large number of us into the National Honor Society. We are now looking forward to our Senior year, but we will never forget the fun we had as Juniors. We couldn't have had half as much fun if it hadn't been for our advisor. Miss Roberta Grimes, who did a wonderful job. We were glad to have Nancy Harless, one of us, selected as Skeleton Ball Queen. Our officers all did a fine job. Our years to come will be nice, but we will always look back on our Freshman year as something a little special. This is Lewis's last year and he will be greatly missed in the future. Stepping into his place will be Bill Dunn and Roger Eanes. The Future Teachers' organization is rather new in Jackson High School. It consists of a group of students interested in the teaching profession. Requirements for college entrance, methods of teaching, and a general discussion of teaching are among the topics used in the meetings. Each member is supposed to get a chance at student teaching sometime during the year. Mr. Gomer Morris is the faculty advisor of the organization. The office staff is made up of a group of hard working girls who have agreed to do some of the leg work in the high school. To do this, they have had to give up their study halls and everyone agrees they should have a vote of thanks. CUSTODIANS Two men who aren't seen parading in the halls all the time, but two whom we would have a hard time getting along without are our custodians, Mr. Vanfossan and Mr. Freeland. These two men do a tremendous job every day of the year. If anything goes wrong with any object in any room, it is their job to fix it. The job of keeping the furnace going is a big job in itself. This is just one of the many tasks these men have. Our congratulations go out to them as they do such a fine job for us. They are very important figures and our thanks go out to them for their part in our school programs. The hard work and determination of football Coaches Slaughter and Keadle made it no surprise when head Coach Slaughter was named Coach of the Year of the SEO League. This was certainly fitting as Jackson won the coveted Championship for the second consecutive year. Coach Keadle completed his first year as head basketball coach, by bringing Jackson through to a second place tie in the league. With the success of our coaches came the high spiritness of the team, leading them to admirable honors. 8 83 83 Uc °° o CHAMPIONS 54 First Row: Larry Williams, manager; Delbert Hensley, Paul Collier, Larry Claxon, Bob Exline, Bill Boroff, Jim Greene, Jerry Waulke, Elvin Johnson, Bill Steele, Larry Schoeblock.
