With a total of 52 JHS students participating, the contest was a big success. The Juniors won the contest with 10 class members participating, which is 24M of the class. The Freshmen were second with 21 participating, a percentage of 23'Ml. The Seniors were third, boasting 9 members: which was 1806 of that class. Fourth were the Sophomores, with a class participation of 12, which was 1606 of this large class. Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun, especially the Juniors who were awarded 15 points for their participation. FBLA plans to make the Costume Contest an annual event. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Fleming and has three brothers and two sisters. He is living at the home of John Matlock, JHS senior, and his family. Geoff was able to become an exchange student through the Youth for Understanding program. Geoff said that his first impression of Jacksboro was that it was a farming town. Geoff is a very active student. He is a member of the basketball and football teams and band. He said that he would miss JHS and Jacksboro when he returns to Australia in July. Top award winners at the annual Spr- ing Band Concert flanked by their direc- tor, Mr. Louis Thornton and assistant director, Mr. Phil Moore, were Staci Dunlap who received the Arion award as the outstanding iunior, John Searcy and Sherrie Alien who received the John Philip Sousa award as outstanding seniors, and George Smith who receiv- ed the Louis Armstrong Jazz award as the outstanding stageband member. 2.
