The Johnson High Homecoming Queen for 1977 was Miss Cindy Spinier, escorted by Mr. David Schwart . I he student body voted from misses ( indy Spinier. Lisa Jose, and Sheila Brooks. I he student body was asked to nominate seven girls to be narrowed it' the top three. Some of the nominees included Julie Aldrich. Melanie Austin. Du Valle Daniel, and Angela Wherry. The senior maids of the queen's court were Miss Lida Jose, escorted by Mr. Bob Rnowling. and Miss Sheila Brooks, escorted by Mr. I ucker Brown I he iiinioi class maid was Miss Cynthia Patton, escorted by Mr. Michael filliott. Miss Gayle Rodgers represented the sophomore class, being escorted b Mr Steve Stripling I he freshman class maid was Miss Sabrina Baker, who was escorted by Anthony I uqua. The half-time activities at the game featured the Jaguar band playing selections from “Star Wars' . The flag corps formed a drape through which the mauls and their escorts walked as their names were called. The float parade featured the junior class float. ’’Pan the Panthers”, which won first place. I he I orce of '7s the senior float, won second place. The Anchor Club float. “Plot the Panthers”, won third place. Homecoming Week activities helped to build up Jaguar spirit for the Johnson-Huntsville game. On Monday, favorite football player elections were held. Lor one cent a student could vote for his favorite football player. I oby Dunn won the election. On Tuesdav. Lick Tim Dav was sponsored by the S.G.A.. who sold suckers for ten cents. HOMECOMING QUEEN Cindy Spittler

On Wednesday. Fifties Day. the latest styles of the 50 s Dance contest drew a crowd to the media center during break. Among the couples participating were Mike Causey and Kelly Carter. Kim Hall and David Elliot, and John O'Leary and Pam Cowley. Mike Causey and Kelly Carter won the Contest. On Thursday, students took advantage of Hat Day to wear their favorite hats. The bonfire scheduled for Thursday night was cancelled because of rain. On Friday students wore blue and gold to support the Jag- uars. At the sixth period pep rally, the juniors and the seniors won the spirit stick. All week long homerooms were decorating their doors, which were judged on Friday. Miss Osborn's homeroom had the best door, and were awarded a party. The Homecoming Dance was held in the lunchroom on Saturday night. October I. from 8 p.m.-l2 p.m. The success of Homecoming 1977 was due to the various activities which encouraged the participation of the student body. 181
