The sponsor for the effort was the National Spirit and Sports Association. While dancing and drilling with the group, each girl was judged individually and received either a red, white, or blue ribbon. Tanya Stapler won a trophy for the drill down competition. Missy Wright was named Miss Spirit. At the State Competition held at Huntsville High, Wendy Wickwire captured the position of first runner-up in the Miss Alabama portion of the contest. The team dances at all sports games and participated in the halftime program of their first out-of- town game in Russelville. The Jaguarettes attended the February 12 state competition scheduled at Birmingham-Southern University and captured first place in the dance, high kick, and prop divisions.
