The traditional ceremony was followed by dancing to the U.S. Army Band's Rock Combo. The Cadet Drum and Bugle Corps opened the ceremony. After other members of the ceremony marched in, the Color Guard presented the Col- ors. Mr. John Masterson. Johnson's Director of Curriculum, was the Guest of Honor and is shown flanked by Cadet Lt. Col. David Hayes and Cadet Sgt. Major Norman Lier. Following a few short remarks by these three. the Birthday Cake was cut with a Marine Corps Sword. The first three pieces of cake were presented to Mr. Mas- terson, Cecelia Barber (oldest Cadet) and Stanley Crowson (youngest Cadet). During the dance, the Cadets and their dates had two large tables of food and 40 gallons of punch with which to refresh themselves. By mid- night when the Ball was over, the food and punch were gone. So you know the Band was loud and fast and the dancing exuberant. 144
