The 1978 Ranum soccer team started off the season looking stronger than thought possible. We displayed an excellent passing brand of soccer and fitness which hit truly championship form in our first confrontation with Westy and in which we literally blew them off the field. Many other great games, such as both of our contests with Northglenn, were scattered throughout the season. Flanum soccer fans watched us go on an undefeated streak of 34 games and our third straight Skyline championship. The uniorseen problem which plagued us was an unusually high rash of injuries from which we never completely recovered. This problem, coupled with an emotionally flat game in the state playoffs, brought our season to a premature conclusion. In retrospect, the season was encouraging, enjoyable and most of all, exciting. 9

Having graduated 5 members of the varsity team last year, we had only one returning letterman - Terri Baldi. Although the team showed considerable improvement during the year by increasing their team score 30 points, they finished a disappointing 6th in the league. Terri Baldi, however, is another story. As a sophomore, Terri was an All Conference selection on balance beam. As a iunior and senior she was All Conference on floor exercise, balance beam and all around, She represented our district all three years at the state meet. This year she finished 5th in state on the balance beam, the highest finish of a Skyline League gymnast in state competition.
