I ASIAN STUDIES - As Ghandi once said: I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all lands to be blown about my house, as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any. Developing this attitude is the intent of Asian Studies. This course is designed to develop a mental flexibility in dealing with unfamiliar cultures and peoples. It attempts to reduce ethnocentrism through seeing the intrinsic worth of other cultures. The course continues into an indepth study of Marxism and Leninism by comparing the ideologies and philosophies of these two meng the rise of Stalin and Communism in Russia up to World War ll.
