lt gave me a good feeling to know that someone respected my ideas TUTORS IN READING STUDENT INSTFIUCTORS Students earn a credit towards graduation for tutoring younger students in pre-schools, elementary and junior high schools and the Flanum Fleading Lab. Miss Sime coordinates the program and helps the Student Instructors and Tutors in reading plan their weekly seminars held at Flanum. Mrs. Snow, Mrs. Noland, Mr. Nelson and Mrs. Qualteri assist tutors in the areas of Spanish, Social Studies, Science, and Child Development. A federal grant for S1OQ0OO brought into reality a variety of new turoring resources housed in the Ranum media center. The initial arrangement and ongoing use of these materials are directed by Suzanne Hatchett, media specialist. Tutors improve the younger students and that l could make a part of me become a part of them. Tom academic apiiiiiec and prcvide much appreciated Stephens lt has helped me to see that other students have the same problems in school as l did. Beth Bradley lt is a chance to learn and experience how a child learns and experiences life. Mary Huston individual attention. The tutoring experience is beneficial to the Flanum students in that it helps them to realize the problems and rewards of working with other people. l like to see it when something l do helps the child. By tutoring, I learned to tackle problems as they occurg you always have to be on your toesf' Miles Joslin Tutors in Reading has helped me find some effective techniques for reaching out to kids with special reading problems. The personal reward is unique to every- body. Holly Ciccarelli I have gained satisfaction in seeing accomplishments the student made. Renee Mickelson It helped me to have more patience with kids and direct me into a career. Vickie Trapp Tutoring has helped to improve both the boy I work with and myself in reading and in understanding the values of learning. I think that more people should have the opportunity to tutor or be tutored. Patricia Salono I know now that it won't be an easy job being a teacherf' Roberta Leyshon I learned about kids and how they look at life. Shari Potter The experience showed me some real problems that children have. Eileen Borquez I helped one student who was doing very poorly to become an above average student and take some initiative in the class.
