IVE? C. RSANIHVI After four decades of dedicated service to District 50, Iver C. Ranum has announced his retirement. Iver Clarence Ranum was born in 1911 and grew up near the banks of Clear Creek and near Baker Elementary School. Before attending Union High School which is now the C.E.P., he attended Baker 81 Berkeley Elementaries, Skinner Junior High, and North High School. He was from a family of 12. He went to Luther College in Iowa where he was to become a minister. Money was scarce then and his father, a laborer, had just lost his farm: a short while after his family moved to Colorado. Mr. Ranum paid for his own college tuition and later decided after graduation in 1934 he would enter the world of work. In the fall of 1935 he became a teacher at Union High where he taught Algebra, Geometry, and American History. He also coached all of the sports activities. In 1941 he served as the principal of Westminster High School until 19503 also during this time District 50 was formed in 1946. In 1950 he was named superintendent of District 50. Mr. Ranum believes that the addition of the Career Enrichment Park, to an already tremendous educational environment that has developed in Westminster over the years, has demonstrated the communities' dedication to progress. He believes that, After I die and if I could be reincarnated I would like to come back and be a superintendent of District 50. He also remarked that it was a great honor to have a school like Ranum named after him. Mr. Ranum, the students, administration, and the faculty of Ranum High School thank you for a job well done - you will always be a treasured part of District 50.
