Publication this year has been more than a challenge. On the following pages. the answer . . . Ioseph Racina Editor-in-Chief Connie Conroe Co-editor Russell Stead Evelyn Moore Business Managers Enid Kronick Co-business Manager G0 TE TS 0 FACULTY 0 ALMA MATER 0 CLASSES 0 ORGANIZATIONS 0 FRATERNITIES 0 ACTIVITIES 0 YOU SAID IT! 0 SNAPS 0 ADVERTISEMENTS 0 STUDENT DIRECTORY 0 INDEX DBDIUATIU O YOU men and women of Ithaca College now in the armed forces of our nation. who are giving a part or all of your lives to the noblest cause of our time, we dedicate this book. LEONARD BLISS I OB President 14 Meddaqe fauna 01414 pfzedicfenll These pages, representing much of your college life, will be looked upon when you are in retrospective mood. They will recall experiences, memories. and incidents that will remain precious. No one would want to destroy such memories nor to maintain that they do not add measurably to the richness of life. But memories are always of the past, and it is dangerous to dwell too long with them. The Youth of today also looks to the future. It can- not quite understand the significance of such changes as it has witnessed in recent years but the full import of change does not dampen the spirit or shake the con- fidence of those who, tomorrow, must take up the maior burden of the world's work. Fortunately, while you may occasionally recall with longing the fine moments in your college years, you are now prin- cipally concerned with the future and what you, with others, can make of it. Many things which have seemed most important now tend to lose their signifi- cance, and as the world again, by degrees. returns to a state of relative equilibrium, new issues, new op- portunities. and new responsibilities will replace the old. For these, each is incompletely, if not indiffer- ently, prepared. But if college has meant what it should, there is present a will to do and a command of methods of attack which should prove immeasur- ably valuable in meeting unanticipated problems. That you will succeed, no one here will doubt. As the last four years pass in review, those yet to come seem now to be less foreboding. God speed! Remember we still have the spirit and perseverance which was evident at the organization ot our large Frosh class in 1942. A super Prom was sponsored by our class this year in spite of the war-time diffi- culties. The vivacious Margaret Lobbin reigned as Queen, and was attended by Evelyn Moore, Adrienne Larsen, Dorothy Schroeter, Georgia Rowan, and Beatrice Miller. Everyone had an en- ioyable evening in our spring garden dancing to the solid music ofthe Sinfonians. The favors were those attractive seal-crested silver spoons you see being sported around the campus. P.S. lt didn't rain! Many thanks to our advisor, Mr. Finch, for his invaluable assistance. In November, it increased the students' interest in na- tional affairs by conducting a college election poll for Dewey or Roosevelt. ln December, the editors held a competition to increase the staff, each candidate being required to prepare one full issue. As a result, six new members were added to the Ithacan staff. In January, a rousing editorial inciteol a clean-up campaign. As a result, the lthacan, acting as master committee, combined its efforts with many of the other college organizations to clean and remodel the lobby, dressing rooms, and lounges. On another occasion the staff presented a full assembly program, depicting the preparation of an issue.
