Staff members not only write and edit the copy, make the photo- graphs and do the artwork but they also do all of the typesetting and paste-up. The paste-up and some of the type-setting is done on the Tupelo Campus of IJC on the Mon- day night before the paper is distrib- uted on Thursday. Staff members often have to work twelve or more hours on just the paste-up of each issue and are often in the Print Shop until 1 a.m. putting the final touches on the paper. In order to learn new techniques about the production of the CHIEF- TAIN, staff members attend two conferences each year that are held by the Mississippi Junior College Press Association. In addition, the CHIEFTAIN co-sponsors the annual IJC Newspaper Conference for IJC and high school students. Work- shops are conducted by area journal- ists. Mirror Producing a pictorial history of IJC requires that the MIRROR staff members not only work during school hours but often at night and on Saturdays. The dreaded deadlines always come just before special days such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas holidays and Valentine ' s Day, which means staff members are sometimes required to give up some of their celebrations time to see that the yearbook pages are completed as scheduled. Working on the MIRROR is not all work, however, staff members enjoy a Publications Banquet, an out-of- town yearbook workshop, and a staff party or two. In addition, this year ' s co-editors and adviser were treated to an all-expense-paid trip to Dallas, Texas to learn the latest information on yearbook produc- tion. Taylor Publishing Co., which paid for the trip, also sponsored a summer workshop at Ole Miss that the co-editors attended. The MIRROR staff members are: (left page, 1st row, 1. to r.)
