Staff members not only write and edit the copy, make the photo- graphs and do the artwork but they also do all of the typesetting and paste-up. The paste-up and some of the type-setting is done on the Tupelo Campus of IJC on the Mon- day night before the paper is distrib- uted on Thursday. Staff members often have to work twelve or more hours on just the paste-up of each issue and are often in the Print Shop until 1 a.m. putting the final touches on the paper. In order to learn new techniques about the production of the CHIEF- TAIN, staff members attend two conferences each year that are held by the Mississippi Junior College Press Association. In addition, the CHIEFTAIN co-sponsors the annual IJC Newspaper Conference for IJC and high school students. Work- shops are conducted by area journal- ists. CHIEFTAIN Editors are: (right page, top) Angie Kelly and Gregg Sappington, Assistant Editors; and (middle picture) Shelia Littlejohn, Editor-in-Chief.
