4,.. l. WP. gd 6. 61.0 eng Mr. and Mrs. Tao Teng have lived in the Isaac community for 17 years and have been active in most activities for the welfare of the whole community. They are loved by their family, admired by all their friends and respected by their neighbors. Tao first arrived in the U. S. as a student from China attending the University of Southern California. At the same time he taught Chinese school in L. A., two years later he married a lovely and personable Chinese girl, Jean. Tao received his B. A. degree from the University of China then his master's degree in Sociology from U.S.C. During World War II, Tao continued his studies and works until he and Jean moved to Phoenix to operate their own neighborhood market on Grand Avenue. After the War the situation in China was not too stable, so they chose to stay in Phoenix. Encouraged by the future potential of Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun, they opened the largest super market in the Isaac area, the Budget Foods, Inc. only 17 years ago! Their first child started school in Isaac and they immediately became strong supporters of the PTA and its activities. Also sponsoring a Little League team named the Budget Foods. Tao was also active in the Isaac Mens Club and was honored for his active parts by being awarded its life membership distinction. He was also a member of the 5O!50 Lions Club for many years. At present he is elected to the position of PTA Treasurer and was recently honored with its life membership award. Their family of five children are all members of the Isaac School. Four of them have graduated with honors and the youngest one is still trying to out do the other four. Their children are Catherine, who received a masteris degree two years ago and is presently working for the Carnegie Endowment For International Peaceg Clarence, who received his master's degree a year ago from Stanford University and is now working for the Rand Corporation in space research, Crane, who is presently attending the University of Southern California and is majoring in Mathe- matics, Caroline, a senior at Carl Hayden High School, and Clemente who is now attending Isaac School and is in the 7th grade. Both Jean and Tao are also presently active in the Chinese community.
