To the class of 1958
Congratulations to you who are terminating your high
school careers with the last year ot lull opportunity at Iroquois
Central for sometime to come You, like all of the other grad
uating classes throughout the nation will be known as the
I G X class because ot this all important International
time of great international tension We have witnessed the
conquering of space through the launching of an earth made
satellite by the Russians A mad race for supremacy in super
sonic missiles and sp Ice travel is on between nations The
tension increases as this race widens the gap of distrust be
tween nations This frustration has no bonds, as neighbor
accuses neighbor and the unification 1nd calmness of cooper
ative spirit seems to ebb LX mld rush for intellectual giants
m the fields ofm lthem ltics and science is a constant challenge
exerywhere World supremlcy tor prestige by phenomenal
technology is the go ll It is a time when man turns upon his
tellow man to condemn him for believed shortcomings ro
duced by an ow er all leeling of insecurity on the part of every
one, in this mighty effort to outdo each other
The question then lrises out of this panorama ol hysteria
What is to be your destiny? Cm it be that out of all of this
world conflagration by man made weapons, or will mankind
resolve his political differences and learn to live together, each
dependent upon the other and all dependent upon the guid
ance of a power greater than the human
It is my sincere hope that you strive toward the accomplish
ment of the latter, even though It may not be secured within
your lifetime With all my heart I wish you success in this
most important venture
Sincerely yours,
J,0.i2z
