The Freshmen found most of their time the first two days occupied by English jjlacement, mathematics and personality tests. Dining the week the tne di isions of the college held receptions. The Engineer- ing l)i ision held theirs in Exhibit Hall complete vith information booths fc r e ' ery department in the dixision. . simi- lar reception was held by the Home Eco- nc:)mics Di ' ision in (Catherine McKay Auditorium. Eraternity and sc rority rtisiiing took place during Ereshman Days and the new students interested in the fraternity system also had to scjueeze rush dates into their busy schedules. A con ' ocation xvas held to ex|)lain rushing jirocediue to the rusli candidates. One of the highlights of Ereshman Days was the Eresiiman Mixer. Even though the Division oi Engineer- ing claimed the greatest niunher of stu- dents, the Agriculiuie Dixision (lis|)la c(l the most significant increase. As in the Engineering Dixision. the Division of Home Economics showed a rcchiced number of students. Eall (juarter failed to meet the prex ions vear ' s mark by 100 students. Winter c]iiarter of 191 ' J ioiuul the same condition existing as in fall cjuarter. Over 9,500 students registered establishing a new high. The ])rcxioiis year onlv ' J. 100 students attended classes during the xvintcr. I ven during the xvarm sunnner months many students attended Iowa State. For the summer session which lasted fixe and one-half xveeks S.nSO students registered. The second session xxdiich lasted only tixe weeks, including final exams, foinid ap- proximately the same lunnber ol students enrolled. Along with inllated enrollment in the undergraduate school the (iraduate Col- lege experienced increased attendance, jimiping from K ' t graduate sttidents in xvinter quarter of 191S to 1)35 for the same quarter in I ' .IIO. The college business oliice expects to complete installation of the new pimch card ' registration system by l ' . 5(). Ehe first of the time saving IBM machines nc:)W in use were installed during fall c|uarter.
