Dedication It is our belief that in death, as in life, Bobby Gilbreath is a symbol of a valiant soul, ever striving for Victory and Perfection. In life, he represented a dedication of heart for above mere human understanding. In our memories he stands out as one of the most dedicated young men of our times, receiving national recognition in the field of endeavor to which his heart was so dedicated. He represents the symbol of service for his school, leading it into the annals of Texas Athletics history as one of the state’s most outstanding track stars. In life, and in death, he is a symbol of the character required to make men great. As once a great man said, Popu- larity fades as often as the wind changes, Character never fades. This was the character of Bobby Gilbreath. Finally, but certainly not last, Bobby represents the greatness of those, the world around, who strive for lofty heights; some who succeed in deed, some who succeed in the hearts of those who admire and respect them. Thus, the 1963 Hawk is dedicated to the memory of BOBBY GILBREATH, in the belief that he left to his school a heritage, and to each student of this school a goal. To the school he left the heritage of Victory; to each student of this school he left the goal of Success. This Annual Staff urges that from this day forward Iowa Park High School try to live up to that Heritage, and that each student of our school dedicate his life to the Suc- cess of that school as Bobby did, seeking Victory. In final memoriam the following poem was written by Larry Dodd for the Annual Staff and some of his friends. We hope that it will mean as much to you - the student body - as it has to us. There’s going to be a tournament in heaven someday. All of the world's great athletes will be there. The world's great artists, the world's great musicians, Yes, there all the world’s great ones will be. I hope that I will be there and that you will be too, In Heaven, in that great celestial stadium. The great ones with a will to win, The ones who fought for victory, The ones with unbeatable soul, Yes, all of the great ones will be there. And I’m sure that if I get to Heaven On that celestial tournament day, I’ll look around through all the nations, See all the famous stars And then in one silent corner, Ready to run his last race I’ll find a tall, proud figure Of the boy who'll beat them all. Yes, I'm certain there'll be a young man there With a silent smile on his lips. And when the final race is run, he'll walk away In silence, head uplifted, eyes straight ahead, Victor in the end.
