ACT I. , SCENE 3 JAe fhxei a£t Sea xtfi Under the leadership of their new mentors, Head Coach Bob Covington and Assistant Coach Gene Snipes, the senior high football boys begin practicing diligently beneath a broiling August sun in pre- paration for a ten-game schedule. After dropping the first two games to Electra and Valley View, The Hawks won a glorious victory over the Burk Bulldogs on September 24. In regular conference play, the Hawks celebrate Homecoming on October 29 by winning over Henrietta 32-20. Although no other win is chalked up during the season, our boys keep up their fighting spirit and acquit themselves well in each game. Donnie McManus and Gerald Combs serve as co-captains for the season. When the All-District selections are revealed, Gerald Combs has the honor of being chosen a defens- ive back. Receiving honorable mention are Lloyd Klinkerman, end; Fred Lewis, tackle; and Harvey Klinkerman, quarterback. Showing plenty of hustle and talent, the junior high football team wins five out of an eight-game schedule in which each of four opponents is played twice. At the end of the season, letters are awarded Jimmie Banks, Jim Barbour, Leslie Beavers, Malcolm Berry, Lee Holloway, Deryl James, Don Roy Klinkerman, Donald Mundt, Jim Paris, Jimmie Pinson, Bobby Redin, Louie Reed, Gene Shawver, and Michael Laible, manager.
