In February the Sweet- heart Swing was presented and Irene Smith was elected queen. The annual Block l- G, A, A, snowparty was held in February also. The girls elected to go to Asilomar this year were Judy Mace, Elmerita Tonzi, Mary Lou Ostergar, Charlotte Betz and Irene Smith. In the spring a slumber party was held for the members of G, A, A, in the new gym.

NEWS During the last semester of the 1954 school term the Ione Chapter of the F. H. A. was forrned. The officers were then installed at a joint installation with Sutter Creek's and Jackson's by the Sutter Creek Chapter, and on June 3 they went on a field trip visiting the Home- making Department of the University of California at Davis.

Clark, R. Schelly. Not Pictured: N. Lyman, J. Irvin, C. Randolph. CALENDAR FOR THE YEAR This year the Block I Society sponsored a fun night on January 16. Events on the program included toothpick-life-saver, relay and hopping races, the affair was a success both financially and socially. Also the Society co-sponsored with the G.A. A. , the Washington's Birthday Snow Party at Calaveras Big Trees. The Society's sponsors, Mr. Schilpp, Mr. Williams, and Mr. Isbell, were active in bringing a 'Town Team Tournament' to Ione's new gymnasium on March 18, 19, and 20. The Block Society with the G. A. A. had charge of concessions at this event. At the Homecoming Picnic on May 14, they had a ducking booth in which various members participated. The Society also voted to buy the band one new instrument every year from the proceeds. Altogether the Block I Society numbers thirty members of whom eleven earned their blocks this year.
