XY'ith the Alma Mater chosen for this years theme, the statl' has endeaxored to present as complete a picture ot' the varied campus activities as possible. Special credit should be gixen to the Editor-in-Chief, Harold lng, and the Layout Editor, Thomas Moriyasu, who did most of the work in putting the annual together. Thomas was also elected president ot' A.L.O,H.A., the Associated League of High-school Annuals, which held iarious meetings and workshops throughout the year. Thanks go also to the Reverend Robert Stretch, the adxisor, who w as faced with the problem ot' getting acquainted with the members ot the statt and the school, as well as that ot' producing a yearbook. This year the statt decided to denote from the original trend and produce a yearbook which, it beliexes. is refreshingly ditterent. It hopes the change will meet with the approx al ot' the students. Despite the lack of adequate space and facilities, the statt has done a tommendable Viola. and they have gained invaluable experience in journalism. .Whey-, A 'EET .--' 'ug 1 js , 'I i 1 e Q ,-X Roi' SAK-nvxxitx .xi,AN Moo Grorrkiix' trier l'liiitoeiapliN Lip-mp hiisiivs- Nliiiiaeiz X -' f' -..-if' kv JAMES MANKE ERVIN KAU LEONARD cHow Exchange 5P0ff5 Acuvmes 3 ixizigi X WS-N v-gg 1 4 CLARENCE SASAKI MR ROBERT STRETCH DANIEL SOO r AdVlS0r L nderclassmen i' v 4W pf ... H- + W E PETER LAI of . v' DENNIS mo Associate Editor X Associate Editor The past year has brought notable change and improvement to our newspaper, Imua Iolani. A new three- column heading was adopted, as well as lower case column headings, heavy white paper instead of newsprint and offset printing rather than linotype. The editorials, which freely expressed the ideas of the student staff, proposed such projects as the naming of our building wings for distinguished alumni and friends, a clearer de- finition of the responsibilities and authority of the Student Government, better relationships with St. Andrews Priory girls and a system of evaluating high school teaching by the students. As Iolani has no journalism course or special room for newspaper work, the staff worked on their own time under many difficulties, often continuing far into the night to meet the bi-weekly deadlines. To the page editors, Robert Toyofuku, lfrnest Taba, Glenn Pang and Harold Sakoda goes high praise for their constant ef- fort and throughout the paper is reflected the originality and enthusiasm of the Editor-insChief, XVilliam Ahana.
