“Mrs. Ida Sunderlin It was twenty-five years ago that Ida Sunderlin came to Inglewood High School to begin her career as a home economics instructor. As she was replacing a teacher called into war work, she felt her stay here would be rather brief. But fortunately for the many who have enjoyed and profited by her classes, she remained to become one of our school ' s most inspiring and beloved faculty members. Mrs. Sunderlin spent several interesting years at the University of Hawaii and became well acquainted with the Islands during her stay there. This was followed by two years at the Uni- versity of Wisconsin, and supplementary work was taken at the University of California and later at U. S. C. In 1930 she experienced the unusual privilege of attending the White House Conference on Child Welfare at the request of President Hoover. She was president for one year of the State Home Economics Association and an officer for several years in the National Home Economics Association. For two years she was president of the Faculty Club here, and she has been chairman of Visual Education ever since the department was installed here three years ago. Mrs. Sunderlin ' s class in home management and child care has always been one of the most popular courses in school, and each year many of her former students return with their families to visit her. Today she can look back across the years spent at Inglewood and see hundreds of young people whose happiness and ambitions have been attained through her assistance. Numerous homes here have been made more pleasant and constructive because of her far-reach- ing guidance, and she may well be proud of the fine results which she has helped to produce. ”
