Improvement in this year's track team was shown through a variety of broken records. Gregg Watkins set a new low hurdle record with a time of 20.7. In the long jump. Anthony Smith leaped to a record 22.114”. The school discus record was broken many times throughout the season, but Nils Jacobsen’s toss of 42.8 meters was the longest. Inglemoor possessed one of the top triple jump teams in KingCo. with Watkins leading the way. Also. Craig Kelly. Keith Hoffer. and Jack Siemering were all continually in the top ten of KingCo. In the girls’ events. Fernell Collins broke the 80- yard low hurdle mark with a time of 11.3. Liv Jonassen also had some outstanding perform- ances in both the 800 and 1600 meter events. The Boy's Gymnastics team went all the way to the top! With leaders such as. Senior Bob Clem. Juniors. Dan Tuffey and Frank Miller; they broke all-time school records. Coach. Dave Elverum. commented on the team. A great bunch of hard workers - all of them!” The team traveled to Battle- ground and Tacoma, where besides having fun. experienced the best season ever. And. as the 1978 KingCo Champions, the Boys’ Gymnastics team faced Bothell for the 1979 title. The year has been a great one. although, coach Dave Elverum keeps a sharp eye out for the future. The team had some outstanding Sophomores and Freshmen. Sophomores such as. Tom Johnson and Lee Reynolds looked very promising. Coach Elverum was surprised at the talent the young Freshmen Roy Stubsjoen and John Farhatt possessed and overall was extremely pleased and satisfied with the whole team’s performance.
