in Deca The Student Store ran smoother this year than it ever has before. Mike Stewart, a member of the senior Deca Qub, was the shop’s first manager of the Student Store. Mike and the other students running the shop did much more than just sell candy. Cleaning, stocking, advertis- ing and making displays were all done by the students. Owned and operated by the Deca Qub. the Student Store gives students a chance to run a small business and all of the work that goes along with it. 1. Students are “Wrapped Up” 1. Seniors Harry Rodin. Glenn Withey. Linda Harrison and juniors Brenda Henbest and Hilary Bailey scope out their next customer. 2. DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) teaches students all aspects of business. Not only does this club learn out of books, but they also run a business of their own during the Christmas season. Their Gift Wrap Shop located at the Northgate Mall gives the students a great job experience along with teaching them the problems of buying, selling, promotion, managing and working with the public. The Club also participates in many different contests and conferences through the year. They give the students a feeling of leadership as well as liking the competition. Eva Nixon and Steve Sims did very well at the Governor’s conference by being elected secretary and Vice President of Area 1.

With Miss Cora Homann teaching the students the basics of food preparation and serving, the students readied themselves for the future. Throughout the year the class planned many activities. The football, basketball and DECA banquets turned out fantastic. They even arranged a couple of wedding receptions. The classes well organized fund raisers made huge profits from hungry customers. Remember the Halloween Pumpkin Cookies and the Pumpkin Tarts for Thanksgiving? The teachers also enjoyed the many luncheons prepared by the students. Another large profit making idea was the Christmas Bakery. It sold pounds of Almond Roca, Peanut Brittle and fudge. Dozens of cookies were also sold to the teachers, and even to the students themselves. The students were well rewarded for their achievements. Any profits made went toward having dinner at different restaurants in the Seattle area. The year long class ended with the traditional Snoqualmie Falls Breakfast. 1. Don't you dare touch my sauce!” Roger Clapper seems to be saying. 2. Jenny Stoner. Shirley Carson and Juanita Peny group together to create Pumpkin Tarts. 3. Keith Fosmark is amazed at the microwave's speed. 84 FEAST
