Mr. Boesche, DECA Adviser, gets wrapped up in his work every year. 3. Julie Bray busily wrap» a package at the Gift Wrap Shop. 4. Laura Ramsey and Bridget Sears are in awe of their finished work. DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) teaches students all aspects of business. Not only does this club learn out of books, but they also run a business of their own during the Christmas season. Their Gift Wrap Shop located at the Northgate Mall gives the students a great job experience along with teaching them the problems of buying, selling, promotion, managing and working with the public. The Club also participates in many different contests and conferences through the year. They give the students a feeling of leadership as well as liking the competition. Eva Nixon and Steve Sims did very well at the Governor’s conference by being elected secretary and Vice President of Area 1.

in Deca The Student Store ran smoother this year than it ever has before. Mike Stewart, a member of the senior Deca Qub, was the shop’s first manager of the Student Store. Mike and the other students running the shop did much more than just sell candy. Cleaning, stocking, advertis- ing and making displays were all done by the students. Owned and operated by the Deca Qub. the Student Store gives students a chance to run a small business and all of the work that goes along with it. 1. Mike Stewart, the first manager of the Student store. 2. Sonja Hill and Lesley Knight display a little of the Student Store bustle at noon. 3. Tim Wooldridge and Mike Stewart sell Sonja Hill and Dave Jory a fantastic lunch substitute. 4. Sonja Hill and Dave Jory buy out all the Student Store’s goodies. DECA 83 • ©i
