Nordic News Keeps Students This year’s Nordic News was more organized than ever before. The job of editor was made easier for Mark Ullberg with the addition of a News Editor position and well chosen page editors. Mark was pleased with the work done by the staff and noted that they were all good writers. The staff’s adviser, Mrs. Lynda Watson, experienced some added relief this year since she advised only one publication this year. Even though she only had paper staff deadlines to worry about, she still had her hands full. But even with lost pictures, late headlines, and last-minute articles, this year’s Nordic News staff made all their deadlines and all their papers came out on time. There was a lot of new creativity involved with this year’s paper. New columns included Prez Sez, by Eric Lucks. 240- Gordy by Chris Gordon and Athlete of the Issue. Principal Dave Rumppe tried to get a note to the students in every issue entitled Principal’s Corner. Derrick Snyder developed a new cartoon this year called Tales from the Northern Wasteland. The job of printing the newspaper was done by Mr. John Owens’ advanced Graphic Arts class. Production Manager, Ryan Johnson organized the rest of the class and had the paper pasted together and to the press with a minimal amount of problems. Both staffs worked well together for the best year Nordic News has ever had. 1. Mrs. Lynda Watson. Nordic News Adviser, smiles through another hectic day. 2. Editor. Mark Ullberg makes sure that copy editor Shauna Lilly and news editor Suzy Morgan get their articles in on time. 3. Feature and editorial editors Derrick Snyder and Jeff Jewell get their work done even with an occasional snooze here and there. 4. Eric Lucks and Chris Gordon freeze under the pressure of being Nordic News Sports Editors.

Ms Julie Palm meditates over another enjoyable day as Julie Judd and Kelly Sutherland find refuge in the paper cabinet from the pressures of Scandia Advisor being Scandia Editors. Co-Business Managers Denise Diemert and Kim Garrett smile in relief as they have )ust completed the ad'section. Along with the usual pandemonium of missing proof sheets, disappearing copy and never having a blue pencil to be found, there were some changes on the Scandia Staff this year. Replacing Mrs. Lynda Watson as Scandia Adviser, was Ms. Julie Palm, who had many new ideas to make the production of the annual run more smoothly. The layouts, copy and picture mini-deadlines made working for the real deadline seem less hectic. Ms. Palm and Co-Editors Kelly Sutherland and Julie Judd worked innumer- able extra hours putting final touches on spreads before they went to print. Co-business Managers Denise Diemert and Kim Garrett worked throughout the year getting ads sold and keeping track of monies that came in. Working on the making of the Annual is a fun but challenging job. The hard work of the entire staff paid off, as they worked to make tnis annual the best yet.
